Dear All,

It is my fervent belief that employees (or as I would prefer to call them “people”) are the secret ingredient to the success of any organisation. On that basis, it is imperative that the culture we promote in Tune Protect not only enables us to retain our best talents but to also attract other talents to join our ranks. As the adage goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day” and likewise for us, it has taken us time to build and nurture the desired culture that embodies what Tune Protect truly stands for, which is to “simplify insurance for all”. The building blocks of our culture is encapsulated in the core values which we espouse below.

An often-repeated mantra from me is that Tune Protect is both a fun and uncomfortable place. We emphasize having fun at work but at the same time we embrace the fact that our job scope is not defined by our job titles per se. Our people employ an agile/lean mindset, and we are comfortable dealing with ambiguity as well as changes in an ever-evolving insurance landscape. To allow our people to thrive in such an environment, our People & Culture team have instituted various initiatives that reward our people for exemplifying the desired behaviour as well as investing in their personal growth and development. In recent years we have promoted high performing individuals to senior positions such as Chief Risk & Compliance Officer for Tune Protect Group, Head, Operations, CX and Innovation for Tune Protect Malaysia, Finance Director for Tune Protect Thailand, and Principal Officer for Tune Protect Life, just to quote a few, Our people are thought leaders within the insurance/insurtech space. They are much sought after in various conferences the world over as keynote speakers or leading panel discussions.

At Tune Protect, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is something that we take seriously. For this reason, we made a public commitment to achieve gender parity in our leadership by end-2023. To date we have 41% of women in leadership positions within Tune Protect. To ensure that the needs of our female employees are met, we provide executive coaching for women leaders, opportunities for women leaders to attend conferences, and nursing room facilities, among others. As an equal opportunity employer, we do not discriminate women who had been on a career break. To date, we have hired three women who were keen to revive their career which was put on hold due to various personal reasons. ???

Although Tune Protect is a for-profit organisation, we are cognisant of the significance of giving back to society. To this end, we made a commitment of investing 6,000 hours in a plethora of Corporate Good programmes from 2022 to 2024, and to date, we have achieved more than 60% of this commitment. Through this commitment, we have galvanised our people to volunteer in various initiatives and activities ranging from the Zoo Negara clean-up as well as partnering Yayasan Chow Kit to assist the less privileged children under their care. ?

One of our 8 strategic commitments to the market is for Tune Protect to be an employer of choice for Millennials. The simple reason we have this commitment is because our target market are the Millennials and the Gen Z segment. Fundamentally, we needed to first understand what Millennials and Gen Z looked for in a prospective employer. An interesting observation is that Millennials and the Gen Z value the flexibility of working from home. Although most organisations have reinstated a back-to-office directive post pandemic, Tune Protect isn’t one of them. The expectation is that an employee delivers on their work commitments, hence the matter of where and when they work is secondary. Aside from flexi work arrangements we also practice flexi dress and flexi time. For men, we have an enhanced paternity leave of up to 14 days. Our medical benefits also cover medical cost in relation to mental health. Our people work hard and play hard. To ensure they have an avenue to destress and unwind, we have a dedicated office space within our building which is equipped with a pool table, a ping pong table, and karaoke facilities!?? ?

We go to great lengths towards inculcating the culture of making our employees feel valued. Studies have proven that an employee that feels secure and appreciated shows an increase in productivity level. And this ultimately translates into how we treat, value, and serve our customers. The proof is in the pudding. Our employee net promoter score (NPS) which measures employee satisfaction is currently at +28%. It was only +2% a year ago. Through the NPS survey, we have a pulse on what matters most to our people and we constantly look at ways and means to make Tune Protect a great place to work!
