From Darkness Back to Light
"This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him, there is no darkness at all." - 1 John 1:5 (NIV)
From the beginning, God intended for His creation to dwell in this light, to live in harmony with His perfect will.
The garden of Eden was a manifestation of this divine intention, a place where God's presence illuminated every aspect of Adam and Eve's existence. Yet, the narrative took a drastic shift with the introduction of sin, a moment that disrupted the harmony and plunged humanity into a spiritual darkness.
The deception by satan, the father of lies, led Adam and Eve away from the light of truth into the shadows of disobedience and separation from God. By choosing to believe the satan's words over God's command, they stepped out of the light into darkness, a decision that had catastrophic consequences not only for themselves but for all of creation.
Sin, therefore, stands in direct opposition to the nature of God. While God is light, offering goodness, truth and life, sin introduces confusion, deception, and death (separation). Sin creates a barrier between humanity and God, obscuring the light of His presence with the darkness of our disobedience.
But the story doesn't end there. The scriptures unfold a beautiful narrative of redemption, a divine plan to reconcile humanity back to God through Jesus Christ. It is through His sacrifice that we are given the opportunity to step back into the light and restore the relationship that sin had broken.
