From Curry to Maple Syrup: My Incredible Journey Bridging Indian and North American Work Cultures!

From Curry to Maple Syrup: My Incredible Journey Bridging Indian and North American Work Cultures!

Oh boy, let me tell you about this mind-boggling, soul-stirring, and utterly amazing one-month offshore trip I had to our India office. Now, you might wonder why this trip was so special to me. Well, my dear friends, it's because I'm basically an Indian by heart, settled down in the land of superheroes and maple syrup, a.k.a. North America, just five years ago. So, going back to my roots felt like a homecoming of epic proportions.

Going back to my roots in India felt like a homecoming of epic proportions. It's where my heart resides, and where the flavors of work culture blend like a perfectly spiced curry.

First things first, I can't even find the right words to express how grateful I am for this opportunity. It's like the universe conspired to make all my dreams come true. And you know what? I owe it all to the incredible Indian and North American leadership teams at AML RightSource . These folks, let me tell you, are like the Avengers of support. They made me feel like a rockstar Manager, showered me with their unwavering backing, and pulled off surprises that made my stay unforgettable.

My Team and colleagues in India: Vaibhav Chaturvedi , Simran Bhatia , Priyanshu Raj , Pankaj Mehra , Gourav Chawla , Gaurav Shukla , Qinan Haider Kazmi , Vaibhav Khatri , Pragya Srivastava , Ayushi Sharma , Shagun . , Inderpal Singh , Md Imam Ghazali , Syed Mazharul Haque, AFC , Hitesh Vohra, CAMS , Rahul Aggarwal , Amit Kumar , OMKAR BORADE , Tejas Seth, Siddharth Jaiswal, Aridaman Singh , Shivansh Gurnani , Shekhar Shukla, Ayushi Rai , Sukhwinder Kaur, AMIT KUMAR , Suman Brahma , Syed Nabi, Vaibhav Tripathi, Aditya Kumar Tiwari and Abhishek Singh.

Picture this: a jaw-dropping video that captured every incredible moment and memory of my trip. It was like a Bollywood blockbuster, complete with emotions, drama, and a few dance moves (don't ask!). And as if that wasn't enough, they surprised me with a cake on my last day at the India office. Now, let me tell you, that cake was so delicious that it could give the Eiffel Tower a run for its money. Seriously, my taste buds did a happy dance, and my heart melted like butter on a hot dosa.

But let's get down to business, or should I say, work culture? India and North America, my two homes with strikingly different vibes. In India, work culture is deeply rooted in history and social norms. Hierarchy and respect for authority are as important as butter chicken in an Indian feast. Decision-making? Well, it's like a grand Indian wedding involving everyone and their second cousin. Consensus-building is the name of the game, my friends. But in North America, it's a different ball game altogether. Individualism reigns supreme, and taking ownership of your work is like wearing a superhero cape. Decision-making? It's like a wild rodeo, where the cowboys and cowgirls ride their ideas into the sunset of success.

Now, here's where things get interesting—communication styles. In India, we have this thing called indirect communication. It's like a beautifully crafted dance of words, where being direct or confrontational is a big no-no. We prefer to drop hints like mangoes falling from trees, hoping that others catch on. But in North America, it's like a verbal rollercoaster. They encourage you to speak your mind, say what you mean, and mean what you say. It's like a stand-up comedy show without punchlines.

Communication styles are as diverse as a Bollywood dance routine. In India, we master the art of indirect communication, dropping hints like mangoes falling from trees. In North America, they speak their minds like stand-up comedians without the punchlines.

But let me tell you something that warmed my heart during my India visit. The emphasis on family and community is as strong as the spices in a masala chai. We share lunch together every day in the canteen, celebrate festivals and successes like there's no tomorrow, and create a sense of togetherness that's stronger than the bond between Rajnikanth and his sunglasses. It's like having a big, extended family where everyone has your back.

The warmth of Indian culture is reflected in every interaction. Sharing lunch together in the canteen, celebrating festivals, and supporting one another create a palpable sense of togetherness that's stronger than Rajnikanth and his sunglasses.

But you know what's even more surprising? Despite the few differences, India and North America share some amazing similarities in their work cultures. Both value education and professional development like it's the holy grail. And boy, do they know how to roll up their sleeves and work hard! It's like they have a secret handshake that only the hustlers know.

India and North America may have their differences, but they share a love for education, professional development, and a dedication to working hard. It's like they have a secret handshake that only the hustlers know.

At AML RightSource , we take employee growth seriously. We have these mind-blowing Global leadership programs, Emerge and Ignite, that are like the superheroes of professional development. Shoutout to Jessie Osborne and Laura Illand for enlightening me about the Culture map during the Ignite program. We believe in recognizing and adapting to different work cultures, creating a workplace that's a fusion of awesomeness and productivity. It's like mixing butter chicken with maple syrup—unexpected but oh-so delightful.

To my incredible India team, my heart sings with gratitude. You've left an indelible mark on my heart, and I can't wait to embark on even more epic adventures together. And to all you amazing readers out there, take a leap of faith, step out of your comfort zone, and embrace the unknown. Trust me, the experiences and connections you'll make will be spicier than a plate of Vindaloo and sweeter than a maple-glazed donut. Cheers to new horizons and unforgettable journeys!
