?? From Curiosity to Passion: My Journey in Plantation ??
When I (Vijaykumar Katti) embarked on my journey into the world of plantation, I chose the Money Plant. Its vibrant green leaves and aesthetic appeal made it a popular choice, seemingly simple to cultivate. However, my first challenge was deciding whether to grow it in garden soil or water. Each medium presented its own advantages—soil offering a more natural environment and water being a cleaner and easier option for indoor growth.
Driven by curiosity, I experimented with both. Initially, both the soil-grown and water-grown plants thrived. But soon, I noticed differences. The soil-grown plant demanded consistent watering and sunlight, while the water-grown plant required regular water changes and monitoring to prevent root rot.
As I delved deeper, I learned the importance of understanding each plant's unique needs. The Money Plant taught me about the delicate balance of light, water, and nutrients. It introduced me to common issues like pest infestations and nutrient deficiencies. Through research and engagement with gardening communities, I learned to identify and address these problems.
This journey taught me three fundamental lessons:
After 5 years, I now know the names of at least 5000 plants and their varieties. I confidently guide others on their journey from seed to plant, exploring different propagation methods. Along this journey, I discovered the value of microbes and learned about upcycling organic waste into plant additives. These slow-releasing, nutrient-rich additives also act as pest and disease controllers, preserving soil structure and the environment.
My relationship with these plants has grown into a special friendship. I understand their needs, and in return, they fulfil my desires. This bond brings me joy and affection that money cannot buy.

At 63 years old, plantation keeps me learning, occupied, and maintains a positive mindset. It contributes to my health and keeps common diseases at bay. I feel wonderful about continuing to learn as a student until my last breath. Isn't it wonderful from all angles?
Through trial and error, I discovered that plants are more than just decorations; they are living organisms that require care and attention. My initial struggles turned into valuable lessons, sparking my passion for plantation. I now explore a wide variety of plants, each with its own challenges and rewards.
Today, I share my experiences and knowledge, hoping to inspire others to embark on their own gardening journeys. Whether it's the simplicity of a Money Plant or the complexity of exotic species, the joy of nurturing a plant from seed to full bloom is a rewarding experience that everyone should try.
