From Counseling in Turkey to Talent Sourcing in the Netherlands: this is Sueda her inspiring career journey.
This is how my career started
I started my journey by studying counseling psychology, which I found fascinating because it allowed me to deeply understand people, organisations and society. Along the way, I discovered my interests in both the mental health side of counseling and organisational psychology. This helped me to understand people’s personalities, drives and needs, and also provided me with a broader perspective on organisations.

To pursue my dreams, I first delved into industrial organisational psychology. I focused my thesis on the relationship between employee social support, job satisfaction, and burnout. After working as a learning and development specialist, I transitioned to recruiting in my home country: Turkey. During this time, I became even more curious about what motivates people, what brings them joy at work, and how work-life balance affects them.

While recruiting, I also offered counseling services, reigniting my passion for human psychology and behavior. This led me to pursue a second master's degree in counseling psychology. Then for nine years, I worked as a Counseling Psychologist at the Ministry of National Education, providing training, education, and counseling to various groups, including students, families, and companies. I particularly enjoyed helping people with career counseling and their development.

Throughout my career, I've always believed in the potential of people. Whether young or mature, I've strived to uncover their talents and support them in achieving fulfilment in their careers and lives.

In 2021, I challenged myself by moving to the Netherlands. After learning Dutch (which I really like), I decided to pursue a career in Talent Acquisition to combine my skills in counseling, organisational psychology, and analytics.

This drives me
I like understanding people: their motivations and their qualities. I knew already early on that I wanted to find a job that enabled me to combine my analytical and counseling passions.

When I began my role as a Talent Sourcer, I quickly realized the critical importance of this position. Success in this job requires a deep understanding of various elements, including the candidate persona, the stakeholder persona and effective communication skills tailored to both candidates and clients.

The most impactful moments of my career
As a counselor and recruiter in Turkey, I witnessed firsthand how setting smart goals can profoundly enhance people's lives by boosting their optimism and hope. This realization became a cornerstone of my approach. I observed that many people experienced burnout because they were in jobs that didn’t align with their true interests and lacked awareness of their skills and strengths. Once they identified these attributes and set meaningful goals, they felt relieved and began working towards a brighter future. Clear goals foster motivation, positively impacting every aspect of life, including physical and mental well-being.

This concept is also crucial in Talent Sourcing and Acquisition. I aim to find talent that not only meets the needs of stakeholders but also fosters a sustainable match. It's a win-win scenario for me, the candidates and the stakeholders involved.

My fit to Successr
After residing to the Netherlands, I was looking for a company where I can learn, grow and which has a welcoming atmosphere. Joining Successr felt like a perfect fit. Being part of the Sourcing Team energizes me, as our job combines analytical work with direct or indirect candidate interaction and client collaboration.

At Successr, we learn new things every day and I can truly contribute to the team. From my first meetings with the team members, I felt an openness, humbleness and an environment where your interests are supported. Everyone is trying to grow in accordance to their own path, while we are still celebrating our successes. We are mentioning this as our ‘collective brain’ and I truly feel it is unique to learn so much together.

This is how I see the future
Reflecting on my career, I've always been passionate about understanding people and helping them discover their talents. I've enjoyed guiding people towards fulfilling work and playing a role in sustainable talent management. Talent Sourcing, especially the strategic side, excites me. I look forward to combining it with talent design and skills-based recruitment down the road.
