From Corporate Chaos to Virtual Balance: How Andrew Lazar Found His Path with Lazar & Company
In 2022, I navigated the fast-paced world of corporate executive assistants while balancing my roles as a dad and husband. At the time, I worked as an executive assistant for the CEO of Probst Electric and Vice President of Quanta Services, and my wife worked from home for a leadership and development startup. Life was busy but manageable.
Within weeks, our family juggled work from home schedules, school for our young daughter, and the demands of household responsibilities. Suddenly, we realized that our dual-career lifestyle wasn’t working for our family. We needed a solution fast.
A Leap into Virtual Assistance
The breaking point came when I missed family dinners, important school moments, and even much-needed downtime. "I just felt like I was losing myself in work and falling short as a dad," I recall. My wife encouraged me to explore a more flexible career option.
I leaped, leaving behind the corporate grind for the world of virtual assistance. Soon after, I started building Lazar & Company.
Translating Corporate Skills into Virtual Success
When asked how a corporate background translated into the virtual assistant world, I said, “It’s incredible how my previous experiences have played a role in my current work. The organizational skills I developed running marketing campaigns are now used to manage my client’s day-to-day operations. I used to create content calendars for global brands; now, I organize executive schedules, plan team events, and coordinate meetings.”

From coordinating product launches to handling complex customer communications, many skills I had developed in my previous roles were invaluable to my virtual assistant work.
Impacting Lives Beyond the Inbox
I quickly saw how much my new role impacted my clients' lives. “I love knowing that the work I do not only supports my clients’ business goals but also frees them up to focus on their personal lives. It’s incredibly rewarding to hear a client say they’re less stressed or have more time to spend with their families because of my support.”
Over the past two years, We have helped our clients streamline their operations, prioritize important tasks, and improve their work-life balance. “I’ve seen firsthand how clearing out a client’s inbox can lead to them having more time for creative projects or being more present with their teams. It’s not just about handling tasks. It’s about making a real difference.”
Finding Balance
Thanks to my role with Lazar & Company, I found the balance I sought. “Working virtually has allowed me to be there for my kids, manage our household, and still use my professional skills to contribute to my family and help businesses thrive. I’m grateful for this path. It’s exactly what I needed.”
At Lazar & Company, we’re proud to offer flexible career opportunities that meaningfully impact our clients and virtual assistants. We’re thrilled to support many more professionals as they find their own paths toward a balanced, fulfilling career.
