From Comfort Zone to Community: My Journey Through 2024

From Comfort Zone to Community: My Journey Through 2024

As December draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on a transformative year that taught me the true meaning of community and personal growth. What began with fireworks over the Sydney Opera House evolved into a year of meaningful connections and intentional progress.

January found me in Sydney, Australia, checking off a bucket-list dream—witnessing New Year's Eve at the iconic Opera House. Taking two weeks away from work to immerse myself in this experience felt like the pinnacle of success. Yet beneath this highlight reel moment, I was playing it safe with my entrepreneurial ambitions.

Truth be told, I had been treating my business more like a passion project than the thriving venture it could become. While I had sketched out a conservative timeline for transitioning to full-time entrepreneurship, I wasn't fully embracing my potential or taking the bold steps necessary for substantial growth.

This year marked a shift in mindset. I began taking deliberate actions to strengthen my foundation—diversifying income streams, deepening my financial acumen, and tackling important milestones like estate planning. The Fidelity Women Talk Money series became a ritual, while Business Insider and Forbes articles became my daily companions. I set clear, ambitious targets:

  • Building a robust emergency fund
  • Achieving my ACC coaching certification
  • Laying groundwork for an international vacation property

However, the real game-changer wasn't in these tangible goals—it was in the power of community.

I found my tribe in unexpected places: a determined study group preparing for coaching certification, monthly financial literacy gatherings, deepening relationships with my financial advisors, and joining a nonprofit board. While each activity served its purpose, it was the relationships forged that proved invaluable.

When faced with a major professional pivot this year, it was these connections that became my compass. My network didn't just open doors—they provided the foundation of courage, clarity, and purpose needed to embrace my entrepreneurial journey's next chapter.

As I work through Mel Robbins' How to Make Next Year the Best Year: Ask Yourself These 7 Questions to chart my course for 2025, one thing stands crystal clear: every milestone achieved in 2024 bears the fingerprints of the remarkable community that's championed my growth.

To everyone who's been part of this journey—yes, you reading this—thank you. Your support has empowered me to dream bigger, take calculated risks, and step fully into my potential. Here's to building on this foundation together as we step into 2025!
