From Cold Hall to Modern Hub: A New Era Begins
As the days grew shorter and the year neared its end, just before our annual holiday break, the demolition of our old cold hall began—a space that had been part of our journey since 1985. Back then, it served as storage for building supplies when G?thes also operated as a wholesaler for construction essentials. Over the years, its purpose shifted to house property equipment, packaging materials, and a garage for our service vehicles. Part of it had even been rented out for many years.
Now, it’s time for a transformation. The hall will be rebuilt with a sturdier frame, designed to accommodate insulation, and a new concrete floor will be poured to maximize storage space. But that’s not all. The lower section will feature additional offices, a gym, and modern changing rooms. Attached to the building, we’re constructing a brand-new loading dock that will become our goods reception area. The goal? To create a better indoor climate and streamline workflows for both our team and visiting truck drivers. The facility will enable efficient unloading at both ground level with pallet trucks and directly from trucks using forklifts.
To top it off, quite literally, the roof is being prepared for a future expansion of our solar panel system—a step forward in our commitment to a nearly self-sustaining property. This new chapter spans a total area of approximately 850 square meters, marking an exciting leap toward a more efficient, sustainable future.
