From code to citizen: How to streamline feature approval in government apps
Button Inc.
We help government and industry build reliable, meaningful digital services.
At Button, we’re transforming the way government services are built, focusing on precision and clarity at every stage of development.
We’ve learned that while user-centred design is essential, the feature approval process is just as crucial. By bridging the gap between developers and less-technical product owners, we make it easier to spot issues early, like unintended changes to UI, and ensure consistent, accessible experiences across government applications.
Using tools like Happo, we automatically capture visual differences in UI components, allowing for quick, clear decision-making when approving new features. This approach not only ensures high-quality digital services but also promotes continuous improvement. Ready to see how we’re redefining digital government development?

A peek into Zoey’s Lunar New Year Celebration
For Button Service Designer Zoey L. , the Lunar New Year is one of the most special celebrations on the calendar. The tradition begins with a big dinner on New Year’s Eve, where the whole family gathers together to share a delicious feast and several symbolic dishes are served. For example, they eat sticky rice, which symbolizes an increase in success, and fish, to ensure an abundance of wealth.
Additionally, it’s common to give out red envelopes to children and unmarried adults, which contain money as a symbol of good luck and prosperity for the upcoming year. On the streets, you can also see lion dances, a tradition believed to bring luck and protection. The lions also visit local businesses to bless them with a prosperous year and good financial success.
It’s a time filled with traditions, well-wishes, and moments to share with loved ones.
