From Clueless to Unstoppable: The Power of Coaching

As a former executive and leadership coach, I’ve had the privilege of working with leaders and executives for over 25 years.

And let me tell you, I’ve pretty much seen it all.

I also know what it’s like to be in your shoes since I was tossed into the executive suite at the ripe old age of 24.

I thought I knew it all, until I was given a coach who? stopped me from stepping off a cliff. (Thanks, Rocky…yes, that really was my coach’s name.)

One thing I’ve seen time and time again is that even the most successful, high-achieving individuals among us can benefit from a bit of guidance and support.

In fact, it’s not unusual at all that high achievers benefit the most from coaching.

But why?

Mark Twain says it best, “It ain’t what you don’t know that gets you into trouble. It’s what you know that just ain’t so.”

Right now, we’re seeing many leaders copying what Elon Musk is doing as the newly appointed Czar of Government.

Musk is taking the approach of shoot now and ask questions later.

Musk is absolutely certain about everything he’s doing, but it’s what he’s dead wrong about that can be most harmful. ?

We’ve all been guilty of this.

We’re convinced that we know best and that our gut instinct hasn’t failed us yet (at least not what we know of or can admit.)

Our decades of experience have given us undeniable insights as a superpower.

However, the truth is there’s always room for improvement, and a fresh viewpoint can be exactly what we need to avoid shooting ourselves in the foot.

You might think, “Isn’t that what my boss or HR is for?” Not quite.

Your boss wants solutions, not more problems.

And HR? They’re towing the company line—or maybe you are HR. Who do you turn to then?

Admitting you don’t have all the answers isn’t weakness; it’s strength. But when pride, fear, or stubbornness get in the way, growth stalls. And when your growth stalls? Someone else passes you by.

Though hard to do, acknowledging you don’t have all the answers can be incredibly liberating.

Executive coaching isn't just another corporate buzzword.

It's the secret weapon of high-performers.

Here's why it matters:

  1. Clarity. It cuts through the noise, helping you see what truly drives success.
  2. Accountability. No more excuses. Just results.
  3. Growth. It pushes you beyond your comfort zone, where real progress happens.
  4. Performance. Studies show up to 70% boost in individual performance.
  5. ROI. A whopping 788% return on investment. That's not a typo.

But here's the kicker:

It's not just about business metrics. It's about becoming the best version of yourself.

Increased self-awareness. Sharper decision-making. Better leadership.

These aren't just skills. They're superpowers in today's fast-paced world.

So, what's this got to do with executive coaching?

It's the key to unlocking your full potential.

Because in the game of business and life, the best players have coaches.

As a coach, my job is to help you clearly see the things that ain’t so as well as the things that matter most to you, your team, and your boss!

I’m here to help you make your people wildly successful and in the words of one of my clients help you become spectacular!

I’ll help you become a magnetic leader, the kind of person people stick to through thick and thin—a leader who attracts top talent with little effort.

To use the example you cited in your article, it's best if the executive actually knows how the company or organization is run, and if the executive is not entering the organization or company with the goal of destroying it.
