Let’s kick this weekly series off by talking about upskilling — a topic that is near and dear to many of us. You may have chanced upon the World Economic Forum statistic which highlights the urgency of Learning & Development initiatives, that 54% of all employees will need reskilling and upskilling by 2022.
While the statistics might suggest that we have a mountain to climb in this upskilling challenge, I’ve been encouraged by the passion, drive and innovation that many HR and L&D leaders have been displaying in order to plug the skills gaps in their organisations. Throughout my conversations with talent developers across the region, I’ve come to understand the barriers that stand between excellent ideas and organisation-wide rollouts of learning initiatives. One key challenge that repeatedly surfaced during these discussions was getting the necessary buy-in from those at the very top.
These insights resonated with findings from a recent LinkedIn report, which highlighted that although a majority of decision makers support employee growth, only 27% of L&D pros felt that their CEOs are champions of learning. For this reason, we’re organising a webinar to discuss how we can get the C-suite on our sides when rolling out learning initiatives.
Leading the conversation will be two trailblazers in the learning space, Ruchika Sharma (Lead - Learning Technology, Amazon Web Services) and Philippa Penfold (Co-Founder of People Collider). We’ll talk about communicating the value of initiatives and programs that will truly excite your teams, how to drive urgency, convince your management to invest in upskilling, and much more.
We look forward to having you at the webinar, which will be held on Friday, 4th September at 12.00pm. The link will be in your inbox once your application has been approved.
