Welcome to another Beyond Limitations newsletter. Today we are delving into boundaries.

Boundaries are the line between where I end and you begin.

Healthy boundaries define who we are in relation to others. They also help us to know what the extents and limits are with others.

Personal boundaries are how we teach people who we are and how we would like to be handled in relationships.

Good personal boundaries protect you. Without them life feels scary and you may feel anxious. Having a sense of boundaries and limits also helps you to connect with your true self.

They are based on your beliefs, thoughts, feelings, decisions, choices, wants, needs, and intuitions. They are clear, firm, maintained, and sometimes flexible.

Setting healthy boundaries allows you to connect with yourself, your emotions and your needs. It allows you to feel safe, to relax and to feel empowered to care for yourself.

Let's begin by looking at behaviours that indicate that you lack healthy boundaries and self-love.

In summary, these behaviours and feelings are signs that you may need to work on strengthening your boundaries and practicing self-love.

  1. Saying NO without guilt: Learning to decline requests or opportunities when they don't align with your needs or values is liberating and promotes self-respect.

  3. Taking care of yourself: Prioritizing self-care is an act of self-love, preserving your well-being and mental health.
  4. Saying YES because you want to, not out of obligation or to please others: Making choices based on genuine desire rather than external pressure ensures your decisions align with your true self.
  5. Behaving according to your own values and beliefs: Staying true to your principles reinforces your authenticity and self-identity.
  6. Feeling safe to express difficult emotions and have disagreements: A sign of healthy boundaries is the ability to communicate openly and resolve conflicts without fear or suppression.

Oh yes self love and clear boundaries has been a big thing for me personally this year Karen as well as something I also help women with. Its Ok to say no and to put yourself first.
