From Career To Calling
by Howie Nestel
Transitioning from one career to another can be a daunting and challenging experience. However, for some, it can also be a rewarding and fulfilling one. Such was the case for me when I made the decision to move away from my career as an ad agency owner and towards a calling to serve non-profits.
As the owner of an ad agency, I had spent years helping businesses grow and expand their reach through marketing and advertising campaigns. Although I found this work to be rewarding in its own right, I always felt as though something was missing. I had a desire to use my skills and expertise to make a difference in the world in a more direct way.
It wasn’t until I began volunteering with various non-profit organizations that I realized where my true passion lay. Working with these organizations allowed me to use my marketing and advertising skills to help promote causes and initiatives that I truly believed in.
The transition from owning an ad agency to serving non-profits was not an easy one, but it was a gradual process. I began by taking on pro bono clients, then gradually shifted the focus of my business towards working with non-profits exclusively.
Today, I couldn’t be happier with my decision to follow my calling and serve non-profits. Through my work, I am able to use my skills and expertise to make a real difference in the world, and that is a reward that cannot be measured in dollars or cents.
