From business to purpose: Antoine's journey in water innovation
How often do you meet a colleague who is so invested in his job that he turns it into his passion, also outside of work?
We usually hear about people who are lucky enough to turn their hobbies and life-long passions into proper jobs. But in the case of Antoine Walter, the opposite is true.
Antoine works as a Senior Business Development Manager at GF Piping Systems , a job that revolves around innovation in the water and energy space. The topic is keeping Antoine busy also outside of business hours – this talented 34-year-old water engineer also runs a popular podcast called "(don't) Waste Water", currently in its 9th season, which focuses on global (waste) water challenges and the water-energy nexus.
On a recent morning, Antoine Walter and I sat together behind microphones exchanging views about an exciting topic (more on that soon!). During our hour-long conversation, we discussed business and innovation, but also his impressive dedication and passion for what he does.
"There is no meaningful impact for me without a purpose," says Antoine, who joined 乔治费歇尔 in 2017. "For me, raising awareness about water as a limited resource, spreading knowledge about the innovative solutions we have in the industry and making sure we can effectively move the needle blurs the line between what I do for work and what I like to do in my free time," he told me.

His weekly podcast, marked by Antoine's modern and funny approach, also got him to be invited to give a TEDx Youth talk on the value of waste water and the importance of sanitation. He has interviewed start up founders and CEOs, delved into topics such as hydrogen economy, #water digitization and iceberg towing.
?Being powered by the fuel of curiosity and true #passion – this is a gift for many of us. But also a great reminder that motivation needs engagement to finally become a "purpose".
