What is the metaverse??
How is taking us into a deeper, faster dimension than the internet as we know it?
The metaverse is potentially an infinite virtual space that can connect people simultaneously from various locations around the globe and potentially beyond to the very same spot of the virtual space time that is created and rendered at the same time frame.
What is it used for?
We are at a very preliminary & experimental phase of the Metaverse, most platforms that dare call themselves metastases are systems aspiring for a decentralization, presently in the motion from WEB 2.0 to WEB 3.0Ideally connected to a blockchain system, hence a decentralized financial system not governed by a single entity. The uses of a Metaverse can go from education & socializing to a virtual? office space to hospitals to shopping malls. In less than a generation we might encounter bigger virtual economic entities than real countries on our globe.
Why is it so revolutionary?
Society is now in a transition from the age of information to the revolution of sensing data, living and meeting it in virtual hubs, being exposed to people and places that might be real, might be mimicking reality, or might even be completely imaginary.
Thus we are creating another layer to reality as we know it today, and all that without pouring even a single drop of concrete or digging miles foundations.
How much does the WEB 3.0 weigh?
We know from previous studies conducted by the physicist Russell Seitzthat & others that the entire weight of the internet (WEB 2.0) with all its massive data, emails and file sharing weighs about 50g, or the weight of one strawberry.
On the other hand we are very much aware that the amount of carbon it produces is about 300 million tonnes of Co2 a year.
So as the age of information is not without a price, so will it be the age of the metaverse, or is it?
Taking in consideration the countless meetings that people can host, companies and businesses operating on several continents without getting out of their houses or offices, all powered by the blockchain, without a middle man cutting a commission for anyone's business by a smart contract, cutting down transportation, gas, time, flights and more, one could argue the the Metaverse is actually Eco-friendly and as the blockchain technology keeps improving, Now pivoting from proof of work to proof of stake,it will consume less and less power to run.

Do I need a house on the Metaverse?
Reality for all its beauty will never be replaced by a virtual experience, no matter how powerful and surreal it will be.
There is no need to find some bizarre drug-like replacement for our reality that is still being explored by humanity with all its senses.
The Metaverse enables us to engage from potentially thousands? or tens of thousands of Kilometres with one another with an Avatar figure that represents us, our body motion and body language, and facial expressions.
Anyone who has ever played a PC game or with a console knows the feeling our brains get.
It's a completely different experience than stepping into a friend's house, or playing on the shore of a beautiful beach with your loved ones.
Owning a Virtual plot of land enables you to host and have a different kind of experience of reality as we know it.
Why shouldn't we just invest more in cleverer more efficient transportation?
Is this new layer of so-called reality important for our evolution?
Those 2 topics are not in a contradiction, we might have tomorrow Super trains or super sonic planes, or yet even better, we might control the fabrication of time-space of our reality (even though it seems this one is still a bit far) the VR + AR environments will offer a reality of a different physics, with a whole new scale of opportunities that will challenge us in the coming century.?

What’s the experience of walking away from designing a house in real life to designing and deploying a structure on the Metaverse?
Designing a house in a real life environment requires somewhat a different set of skills than designing a house or a structure on the Metaverse,
As architects, we are actually in a very old traditional technology industry where, at the end we are Master builder, our role is to connect the details for the entire creation, understanding the workflow and the different mechanism that play a role from the design phase to the assembly or pouring the concrete, or connecting the wood joints to the metal frame.
We are not exposed to Code, programming, or graphic engines and what goes on the behind the scene of those software,
Being a Metaverse Architect requires us to step into the computational language, and reshape our thinking.
The aim is different and so are the methods and the tools for creating a Metaverse.
What about the generations that will be born in the Metaverse
Can we expect a bright future?
With every technology that was introduced to men throughout history there was and is always a way to manipulate it for the good or the bad,
Thievery, or an identity theft is something that we are seeing even in the phases of the WEB 2.0
Presenting yourself with an avatar that is a completely different being then what you are is also a possibility, and even with the power of the blockchain we are witnessing theft of crypto assets.
But we would do well to remember that this technology was at first presented to humanity after the financial crisis of 2008.
We were introduced with blockchain, bitcoin and crypto currency,
an opportunity for a decentralised society, where we can take more responsibility? and control of our lives than simply trusting the banks with our life savings and efforts.
Does it necessarily mean that we are stepping to a dystopian blade runner like society, No.
This requires from us to behave and conduct business in between more codes of ethics between different DAOs& DeFIs (decentralised autonomous organisations, Decentralised finance) in the virtual space and the Metaverse, and possibly we will see in the coming decade a new forms of virtual police hunting criminals on WEB 3.0 that is not associated with any government of the the real world.
Blockchain in it’s essence is transparent, all the computers around the world need to see and recognize a transaction of crypto assets to confirm it.
The transparency is bringing power and vulnerability altogether.
The babies who are born in this decade and growing with this revlouintery tech in the background of their lives, will have to learn to make a differentiation between a virtual experience to the meaning of being present and feeling life as previous generations.
