From Beginnings to Breakthroughs: My Unforgettable Odyssey with Career Karma

Four years ago, I was figuring out a way how to survive the pandemic and it brought me to the complex maze of the tech world, often stumbling, facing rejection from bootcamps I couldn't qualify for or simply couldn't afford. In those moments of doubt, an inspirational coaching session with Ruben Harris , the CEO and one of the founders of Career Karma, acted as my North Star. His words, filled with genuine passion and determination, motivated me to keep pushing forward.

I still remember that day vividly. The resonance of his vision, the belief in the potential of every individual, ignited a fire within me. Despite my own challenges, I began to assist others on the platform. I truly believed in the mission and vision of Career Karma. Just when I thought the doors were closing, a life-changing conversation with Timur Meyster , CPO and another of Career Karma's founders, unfolded. That dialogue not only changed the trajectory of my career but my life.

And, as I reflect, it feels like just yesterday when it was just Melvin and me, two earnest souls trying to cultivate the Career Karma community. Under the meticulous mentorship of Timur, we were knee-deep, creating content, initiating engagements, and laying the very first bricks of what would become a bustling, vibrant community. Melvin, even though our paths have diverged and you're spearheading different projects now, the foundation we built together, the lessons learned from both you and Timur, remain etched in my memory. I'm profoundly grateful for those formative years and the invaluable chance to kickstart my journey alongside you and one of our founders.

Joining the team was an absolute dream. I had the distinct privilege of working closely with Timur, absorbing invaluable knowledge from his leadership. As Career Karma expanded, I was fortunate enough to collaborate with a remarkable cadre of leaders: Shanaz Chowdhery Witt , Brenda Law , Sonja Sierra , and Julie Beltowsky . Each brought their unique strengths, insights, and heart to their roles, shaping me both professionally and personally.
