From Aspirant to Mentor: Sruthi Gomathi’s Journey of Impact

A five-hour train journey. A book in hand. A heart filled with uncertainty.

For six long months, this was Sruthi Gomathi’s routine - a journey of perseverance and self-discovery. As an aspirant preparing for the UPSC exams, she spent countless hours navigating challenges, only to realize that many like her struggled not due to a lack of will but because they lacked guidance. Determined to bridge this gap, Sruthi took a bold step: she launched a YouTube channel in Tamil to mentor fellow aspirants. Today, with over 52,000 subscribers and counting, she continues to empower thousands of students, proving that one person’s determination can transform many lives.

It was during this period that Sruthi came across Bhumi’s School Transformation Program, an opportunity that aligned with her passion for education. She joined as a facilitator, eager to create impact beyond digital spaces. Among the many lives she touched, Durga’s story remains close to her heart - a 10-year-old girl, overlooked due to her academic struggles. With Sruthi’s unwavering support, Durga didn’t just catch up; she excelled in academics in just a few months.

Her journey at Bhumi didn’t stop there. Sruthi’s commitment and resilience soon led her to a new role serving as an Executive Assistant to Bhumi’s Co-Founder. Initially filled with self-doubt, she found strength in her colleagues' encouragement. Seven months of working closely with Bhumi’s leadership transformed her perspective not just about her work but about her own potential.

Reflecting on her time at Bhumi, Sruthi cherishes the supportive, flexible, and purpose-driven work culture that allowed her to balance her mission as a mentor with her professional growth. She believes in the power of giving back encouraging everyone to dedicate at least a few hours to volunteering, because even small efforts can create ripples of change.
