From Apprentice to Senior Design Engineer: Unveiling Andy's Inspiring Siemens Journey!

Andy joined Siemens as an Apprentice in 2016 and later became part of Siemens Energy. He had the opportunity to travel overseas as a Commissioning Engineer, gaining valuable experience along the way. However, Andy's love for hands-on projects and the desire to work closer to home brought him to our Hebburn office, where he now holds the position of Senior Design Engineer.

One of the things that drew Andy to this role was the flexibility it offered. Being able to work from home allows him to balance his personal and professional life effectively. Moreover, Andy loves being involved in projects from start to finish, currently working on Nation Grid projects, and seeing the impact he's making. As he puts it, "You feel like you're doing something important."

At Hebburn, Andy found a supportive community that has helped him grow both personally and professionally. His manager, Rob, understood his passion for hands-on work and allowed him to choose the direction he wanted his career to take. Building panels, testing, and configuring in the Lab are all part of Andy's exciting role, and he thrives in this environment.

Speaking of the Lab, Hebburn is home to a fantastic team of around 50-60 people. It's a great place to collaborate and work together, creating a dynamic and enjoyable atmosphere. Andy loves being part of this community, where everyone is always happy to lend a hand.

And let's not forget about Hebburn itself! The office offers free parking with electric charging points, a modern and comfortable workspace, and a subsidised canteen. Located just a short drive from Newcastle city centre, Hebburn is easily commutable, allowing you to enjoy the best of both worlds.
