Donald Trump’s impeachment legal team cannot win on the facts, the facts of evidence or the legal facts, so it’s entire defense is the “so what” gaslighting strategy.
A few days ago, when it was announced that Alan Dershowitz joined Trump’s legal team (no surprise), he took to the airwaves essentially arguing that “so what if Trump abused his power and obstructed Congress.” He actually added “At least 20 presidents abused their power and weren’t impeached and abuse of power is not an impeachable offices. That is not true and even worse, Dershowitz’s argument normalizes abuse of power and obstruction of justice with this disinformation dame that’s a direct threat to the Constitution.
What kind of lawyers would place the nation in such danger and risk their reputation by offering a blatantly bogus interpretation of the Constitution? Let’s review some of the main players on Trump’s impeachment defense team, who exhibit common traits of being morally and financially corrupt. They have no limits to how low they’ll go and irregardless of the damage it causes to others, including the nation. They’re waste our tax payer dollars and line their pockets whenever there’s opportunity and despite the consequences:
* First, Trump’s personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani is not on the impeachment team as he’s in the middle of this Ukraine scandal Trump is being impeached for and has his own legal team dealing with the criminal investigations he’s the target of now. It’s worth noting that Trump’s previous personal lawyer before Giuliani, Michael Cohen, is also unavailable to assist as he’s still in prison and no longer on the Russian mafia team since he seems to have turned on his former boss.
- Alan Dershowitz -
A close friend of Rudy Giuliani’s and a top gaslighting media propagandist for Donald Trump, Dershowitz has spent the past three years arguing against the Russia investigation and now impeachment. However, Dershowitz made a fortune off the Mueller investigation no only through his media appearances but by selling the Mueller report as his own book (he slapped on a forward undermining the report and charged a dollar less than the Washington Post’s version so many bought his instead). He really does not want Donald Trump held accountable for his crimes. Speaking of crimes, Dershowitz was a longtime friend of Trump’s former good friend, the late serial sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein. The 80 year old Dershowitz was not only close with Epstein and enjoyed massages from Epstein’s young ladies (he admitted to this but said he “kept his underwear on”) but he also represented Epstein as his lawyer in one of his many sexual criminal scandals that involved young underage girls. In 1997, Dershowitz also notably penned an opinion piece making the argument that the age of sexual consent should be lowered to 16 years old. Many have questioned whether Dershowitz will he welcomed at future Martha Vineyard parties where he has a summer home and once had a reputation for running around naked on the beaches (as local press reported) but according to Dershowitz, he’s complained over the past years that he’s been shunned since becoming a legal gaslighting mouthpiece for the corrupt Putin-backed criminal occupying the Oval Office. Right now, he’s lapping up all the attention.

The guy who spent more than $30 million on an impeachment probe over a blowjob, and divided and distracted the nation over a this sexual scandal, has been a loyal mouthpiece on the media circuit for Donald Trump, and like Dershowitz has spent a great deal of energy arguing against first the Russia investigation and now impeachment. Guess it’s a really big deal if there’s a blow job at the center of an impeachment, but not if the impeachment is based on 1) abuse of power charge for the occupant of the White House extorting a US ally to help him cheat in the next presidential election and while weakening the ally for America’s greatest enemy; and b) going to great lengths to obstruct Congress to bury the abuse of power including threatening and intimidating witnesses. That, Starr seems totally fine with. It’s worth nothing that Dershowitz and Starr go back years when they both worked on the same legal team defending the late serial sexual predator Jeffrey Epstein. Now they’ve reunited to protect from impeachment a porn-star bribing, foreign country extorting and conspiring, election cheating, Putin-backed, insane, and severely corrupt president who lost the popular vote by three million votes and has caused irreparable harm to the US.

The former Florida Attorney General who once had the GOP governor change the date of a state execution because it inconveniently conflicted with her fundraiser, and former Fox News personality, who apparently loved to lunch with a potential star witness Lev Parnas according to new photos that surfaced of the two, is Trump’s token woman on the impeachment team.
- Jay Sekulow -
Though he’s a top lawyer for Trump and a walking conflict of interest, Sekulow is leading the impeachment team even though the latest Lev Parnas documents show he too is heavily compromised in the Ukraine scandal of which he was an active participant in. Sekulow has made himself and many of his immediate family members a fortune off of a “non profit” he runs - American Center for Law and Justice - which has brought in tens of millions in dark money donations. In fact, the organization paid him a modest salary of $5 million a year and hired some of his family members. Sekulow is a regular contributor to Christian News Broadcasting and basically runs the messianic Jewish arm of the religious fat right cult known as “The Family.” His son has a far right radio show and his younger brother is a very wealthy Messianic Rabbi in Atlanta, Georgia, who like Jay, is very close with one of Mike Pence’s close associates - Dr. Michael Yousseff of the Church of Apostle where Pence’s former Chief of Staff Nick Ayers is a member and “many, many, many” other of the church’s members served on the Trump campaign according to Yousseff. Having attended one of his sermons and watched several videos, I can confirm that Yousseff attacks not only every other religion but even 64% of evangelicals and has repeatedly stated that the US Constitution is not the highest law of the nation but his interpretation of religion is. So it’s no wonder these guys have no problem spitting all over the US Constitution and want a massive threat to the nation to continue serving in office despite failing to honor his oath of office and after being impeached for abuse of power and obstruction of justice.
What they’re all really defending is their corrupt crime syndicate that’s turning the US into a kleptocracy and authoritarian mafia-State that will mirror what Putin achieved through criminal activity and severe oppression in Russia. They’re defending their web of corruption, and the enemy Don corruption is truth.
As Laurence Tribe, a Constitutional law expert, a former Harvard colleague of Dershowitz’s, points out in his must-read option piece, Trump’s legal defense is bogus and dangerous.

Harvard Constitutional Law Professor and author of ‘To End a Presidency: The Power of Impeachment,’ Laurence Tribe writes:
“The logic of impeachment as applied to the presidency is that the president has unique authority conferred by Article II. If he abuses that authority for personal advantage, financial or political, he injures the country as a whole. That is precisely why the framers rejected the idea of relying solely on an election to remove an abusive president from office. Indeed, waiting for the next election is an option that is obviously insufficient when the abuse of power is directed at cheating in that very election.”
