From Addiction to Recovery
The Upload is a series of interviews by Mark Pew of people he knows that are intelligent and innovative influencers. This session is with Ed Moriarty, a seasoned Work Comp attorney in Massachusetts. However, what's more important during this conversation is his role as a father to a son addicted to heroin. From the unexpected identification to the in-person intervention to the evolving family dynamics during recovery, Ed shares his journey in a very thoughtful way. The great news is that his son has been sober since June 25, 2015 and his life has been fundamentally changed for the better. A Japanese form of art - and philosophy - called "Kintsugi" (treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise) is the best description for their collective experience. This Moriarty story begins with tragedy and ends in triumph and because of that Ed offers much wisdom in this conversation for anyone else on that continuum.

4 年Every person struggles with weaknesses and flaws. Those who recognize and persevere in those struggles are both quintessentially human and positive examples to us all. Thanks for sharing my friend.
