From ￡500 to ￡5000: The Power of an Impactful Message

What started as a humble request for ￡500 to speak at two schools has transformed into a nearly ￡5000 campaign in less than a month. This remarkable journey highlights the power of an impactful message.

Over a year ago, I began sharing my story online, discussing my condition and the challenges of living with a visible difference. The past 12 months have been a whirlwind of growth and inspiration.

My first speaking engagement was at St Albans in Kings Heath, Birmingham. During my talk, a young girl raised her hand and shared that she was also blind in one eye. She told me how my story had motivated her. In the same session, a boy battling heart disease, who was waiting for a transplant, went home and told his mum he wanted to be a motivational speaker like me. My dream is simple: I WANT TO HELP, SUPPORT, AND INSPIRE PEOPLE.

By sharing my experiences, I aim to help others become more confident and resilient. This passion project was inspired by a talk I heard from Simon Sinek years ago about "finding your why." Speaking at schools and sharing my journey is my "why."

Last week, I spoke at an all-girls secondary school to a group of year 8 students. I shared stories of my own secondary school days and the bullying I faced. One girl asked for my autograph and shared her own experience of being bullied in Spain. She said my talk gave her hope and motivation to be herself. That was a "wow" moment for me.

As I write this, we are less than ￡100 away from our target. With the funds raised so far, I will be able to speak at 20 schools starting in September. I will keep the GoFundMe page open, and if we receive more donations, I will continue to add more schools.
