The decision to start this newsletter has been a long one, I ummed and aahed over it. Strategically was it the right thing to do? Subscribers here don't mean subscribers on my email list after all!

In a word... loads! We're in the quieter holiday period now, everyone's off working on their tan and taking those holiday snaps of their legs and toes on loungers. So we're gearing up to get things going as soon as everyone's got their heads back in the game. That said, I have two courses taking bookings in the next few weeks...

That's Almost A wrap!

One of my favourite Podcast hosts, Chris Williamson (If you don't listen to Modern Wisdom, you should) has a weekly email that pops out. In Monday's issue, he added comment on the riots that have been taking place, and his wording is impactful.

"...the people in this weekend’s vandalism videos do not have a thought-out position on immigration.

Their ire and aggression is not in response to failed multiculturalism in Britain.

They don’t have a nuanced understanding of migrant issues and how they affect working class towns.

They want to break things because they’re bored and angry and this is one of the few areas where they have control over the outcomes in their lives.

Immigration problems are not the cause for many of these people, it’s the excuse.

They’ve simply been given a reason to get out in the streets and be angry, like if it was unusually sunny or a Bank Holiday Monday.

These people are angry because aggression is their culture.

They feel like they have no control in their lives.

It’s because they’re bored and hopeless and take pleasure in breaking things.

And there are no positive role models to tell them otherwise."

I'm seeing no end of coverage on this, with various opinions extolled and blame placed on a variety of things. Reading this, I felt a swell of sadness and a need to evaluate myself as a role model. I feel I do a fairly good job; the question is, how can I, how can we all do it better?

That's a sombre note to end things on... I'm going to head back to TikTok now and look for loo rolls.
