From 30,000 Feet: A Moment to Reflect
Hej! Hello! Hi!
Greetings from above the Sahara! Long-haul flights used to be my sanctuary for dreaming up new ideas, but with Wi-Fi now following us everywhere, I’ve traded sky-high brainstorming for the elusive quest for inbox-zero. The dreaming? That’s reserved for this weekend’s hike in Table Mountain National Park.?
This past month we literally connected with hundreds of Simple’s friends and family offices, mostly in person in London, Oslo, Stockholm and Munich. What’s clear is that our industry is shifting into a higher gear. Whether it’s the growing wealth, market dynamics, the influence of the next generation, or the rapid rise of AI and technology that’s driving this, the momentum is undeniable.
I feel privileged and inspired being on the front-lines. Hearing the pains, dreams, groundbreaking ideas, exploring innovative services, and glimpsing the future of the next 5–10 years. But with this growth comes a challenge: the noise.
From recycled online content to poorly executed events with misaligned incentives, the clutter is overwhelming—and, as many in our community have shared, often insufferable. At Simple, we were founded on the vision of cutting through this noise to deliver clear signal for the family office industry. It’s a mission we’re advancing with even greater focus and energy.
I challenge everyone in our ecosystem to strive for excellence—to rise above the noise and focus on providing value and utility to family offices. Simple is here to support like-minds every step of the way.
Warm regards,
Francois & the Simple Team
Nordic Perspectives: Innovation in the Cold
Spending time in the Nordics this month reinforced a key theme—while the climate may be cold, the innovation is anything but. At TECHARENA in Stockholm, AI and WealthTech took centre stage, with a clear focus on how data-driven solutions are reshaping investment strategies. Conversations with venture-focused family offices highlighted a pragmatic approach to risk, balancing bold bets on AI with the region’s deep-rooted emphasis on stability and sustainability.
Meanwhile, the side events around the conference proved just as valuable. The Nordic ecosystem thrives on collaboration, and it was clear that many investors are thinking globally while staying true to their local strengths. From Oslo to Stockholm, the message was clear: the future belongs to those who can bridge tradition with cutting-edge technology.
A New Opportunity to Join Simple’s Journey
Simple is raising a growth round, and we’re excited to invite our network of family offices and industry experts to explore becoming equity partners. A number of trusted individuals and FOs we work with have already backed us, and now, as we’ve hit significant user and audience milestones, we’re opening the door to welcome new partners to join us on this journey.

The Simple Take on AI
AI is evolving rapidly, and for family offices, the conversation has shifted from mere adoption to control, security, and infrastructure. It’s no longer just about building bigger models—it’s about who owns the rails AI runs on and how it’s applied in two key ways:?
The biggest challenge isn’t just AI’s potential—it’s data security and exposure. Even if OpenAI or Anthropic don’t train on your inputs, using public cloud-based AI still means handing sensitive information to external systems. That’s why leading FOs are looking at privately hosted, open-source AI, keeping control in-house while ensuring compliance and confidentiality.
With Apple’s $500B AI expansion and France’s state-backed AI initiative, the global race isn’t just about who builds AI—it’s about who controls its infrastructure. For family offices, the question is no longer if to engage with AI, but how, and whether that means integrating it on their own terms, within their own walls.
