Day 4. I leave my second floor encampment in search of provisions. It's a grey, cold day and the city seems to be weeping, mirroring my mood. I thought the inclement weather would have lessened the continuous - no, relentless – stream of cyclists on the Brébeuf piste cyclable. I was wrong. Two attempted crossings lead to three separate altercations, leaving me cut off from my main source of nutrients on this the first week of my internment. It suddenly becomes obvious that further alliances must be made. The small, brave lady that has been serving me coffee at Mr. Pinchot shrugs from the window as I continue up the street to meet my new fate. The tiny but sturdy woman has an expression that can only be interpreted as "I will see you again some day soldier, until then – be well". I go now in search of coffee and perhaps an egg. These simple pleasures must be attainable in a civil world... I find the yellow Pizzedelic sign to hold little promise.
