A Frighteningly Good Fundraiser from Genforce Dublin...
Cyril Treacy tells us how a television news report led to a halloween fancy dress fundraiser at Salesforce Dublin.
Genforce is an equality group focused on the sharing of information and knowledge across the five generations that work at Salesforce.
On the 26th September, I was watching the Six One News on RTé, when I saw Orla Dolan, CEO of Breakthrough Cancer Research, talking about how they could see a 50% drop in their income this year due to their usual fundraising events being cancelled due to COVID-19 and how this was impacting cancer patients and cancer research trials .
I lost my mother Lizanne aged 61 to cancer and I’ve run fundraising marathons since to support cancer charities, so I really wanted to to help them.
I immediately sent a message to our Genforce equality group team about this bad news asking them for ideas for how we could help.
The next day Ed Hurrell - who is a big supporter of Breakthrough Cancer Research - suggested the Halloween dress up idea to replace our annual in-person Halloween catwalk, which is one of the events of the year at Salesforce Dublin.
Louise O’Brien then came up with the idea of dressing up as a movie star from your era and the ‘Oscars Party’ title which ties in nicely with the Genforce mission.
Then with a bit of help from internal comms on graphic design we got the idea out to our Dublin office teams.
Fast forward to Friday 30th October and our internal Chatter feed lit up with incredible pictures from across the Dublin team who really went all out to create brilliant team themes and some incredible individual efforts too. And the donations were flooding in.
The event raised over €4,800 and we are hoping to get that up to €5,000. if you’d like to help us reach that target you can donate here. All donations will be matched by Salesforce.
And here’s hoping we can recreate the success of this fundraising event back in the office in 2021 !
Our prize winners for Best Team were Daryoush Moezzi's BDR team for their movie stars ensemble and our Best Individual prize went to Therese Dunne as the scarecrow with Aine Corcoran as Cher and Catherine Thorne as Mrs Doubtfire the runners up !
huge well done!

4 年Thank you so much Cyril, Ed, Louise and everyone at Salesforce Dublin who made this fundraising event happen. So much creativity, effort and a bit of fun while helping to raise much needed funds for Breakthrough Cancer Research. Definitely a few stars in the making and possibly even a few contenders for Hollywood costume & special effects awards. Well done to the winners but also to all of Genforce Dublin who took part.
