My life’s calling came when Google suddenly laid off 12,000 people 2 years ago. I formed Xoogler, Google’s largest alumni network to support fellow founders when I left the company in 2015 after 8 years in their Mountain View headquarters and their New York office.?But I was thrust into this position to help those that were now suddenly going through a different change in their career that they never asked for. With the help of many Xooglers and external speakers, we ran over 100 events focused on helping Google alumni that were suddenly laid off., Some that worked for Google for 20 years before this announcement and some have never looked for a job outside the company for over a decade.?

Over the years, we found that during career transitions and layoffs, when professionals connect with others who share similar experiences, they gain access to a powerful network for job leads, mentorship, and a crucial sense of belonging that can transform a challenging period into one of growth and opportunity

Before Key was founded, we assisted Google alumni the best we could, even attempting to add 1,000+ verified Google alumni to a Google Calendar invite as seen below from January 24, 2023.
