Fried Chicken Fest Comes To Winnipeg

Fried Chicken Fest Starts Sunday, January 21: Are Your Stretchy Pants Ready?

January 19, 2018 (Winnipeg, MB) – Fried Chicken Fest takes Winnipeg by storm this week with the ultimate competition to find the best fried chicken in the city. From January 21 to 28, restaurants across the city and surrounding area serve up their best fried chicken creation to eager foodies who will seek to try as many dishes as they can in and vote for their favourite. There are now 17 restaurants signed up for this inaugural event and organizers expect it to become a regular addition to the Winnipeg food scene.

“Winnipeg’s food scene is diverse, and our chefs are creative—Fried Chicken Fest gives us a way to show off both of these. With the cold weather Fried Chicken Week is the perfect way to encourage people to get out and experience the best of Winnipeg’s food scene with friends and family,” Chef Allan Pineda, co-organizer of Fried Chicken Fest stated.

Participating restaurants are encouraged to present their fried chicken concept in a creative way that showcases their culinary skills and offers a unique flavour opportunity. Fried chicken lovers will be excited by the possibilities—from the spices to the crunch, from the flavour to the presentation—what will be the most exciting feature of each fried chicken creation? Fried Chicken Fest goers are encouraged to try as many dishes as they can and vote for their favourite. At the end of Fried Chicken Fest, the winner in each of the following categories will be announced; the “Fan Favourite”; referring to those with the most votes, the “Judges’ Choice”, and the “Most Creative.”

Created by Susie Erjavec Parker and Allan Pineda, Fried Chicken Fest’s goal is to create something tasty and fun during the otherwise dark, cold month of January. Susie is the principal of SPARKER Strategy Group and has extensive restaurant and food marketing experience. Chef Allan is the creator of Baon Manila Nights and produces pop-ups around the globe. They roughed out Fried Chicken Fest over a restaurant table in the heart of Winnipeg and the rest is history. “We’re delighted with the feedback on this first event, and we expect Fried Chicken Fest to only get bigger and better,” said Susie Erjavec Parker.
