Friday Whispers
Welcome to the first of my Friday Whispers, thoughts, and ramblings about what I see as important in celebrating our parents and grandparents 'Before it's Too Late'.
Everyone is only alive for a fixed period; how long is unknown, but one thing we all do during that time is create stories. Sadness, happiness, fun, frustration, and many other emotions are part of our stories and shape us.
These are our stories, and the experiences we have in making them can define who we have become and what we are. As each generation faces new challenges, they create their own stories and shape whom they become.
But what happens to these stories once we are gone? What happens to the family history and heritage that we created? How many of us truly know the story of our family and the generations who came before us?
Preserving our stories is key to building the family history for future generations. It gives insights into different ways of life and challenges that we may never fully understand and can help shape the future for the generations ahead of us.
Imagine the family you will never meet, hearing your stories told in your voice and getting an insight into what life was like, the experiences you had and the person it made you. Life will look very different in 50 to 100 years; what joy you can give by preserving the family heritage and journey?
What stories need to be preserved?
Who's heritage & history matters?
