3 年Interesting news about the push for more manufacturing awareness in the national curriculum and school leaver’s advice. I was allowed to go through my final years of school on the assumption that “engineering” was just standing at a lathe all day, and I feel that lack of encouragement and enthusiasm for engineering was a direct contributor to the skills gap in my generation. It was only through a subsequent careers evening that I saw the light and embarked on vocational qualifications for fabrication and welding - even then it was a bit of a rocky start and it was down to me to realise the full potential.
