Friday thoughts . . .

Happy Friday!
As we are trying to settle into our new home, we have learned quite a bit about ourselves and our wants. We determined that to have a peaceful and memorable life in this new place the home should be tuned to what we want it to be. We adopted a three-pronged approach.
- First, we started with a full inventory of our household belongings and then began eliminating anything and everything that was not needed. These items either made it to a charity or to a dumpster - Eliminating waste.
- Next, we looked closely at what we were left with and what we needed to add. Why can’t we buy a sleeper sofa instead of a regular sofa for the study room, so it not only saves space but can also work as a guest bed – Optimizing resources.
- Lastly, home automation. From a keyless entry to smart switches, solar panels to tank less heater, and water conserving plants to motion sensor lights – Enhancing living experience.
I want you all to take a serious look at these three themes. Won’t you agree that these three are the exact same strategies we employ for improving our efficiency at work?
- Whenever we start a new engagement or review a process, the first thing we do is take the time to understand the lay of the land. Typically, what follows immediately after this assessment is a measure that attempts to eliminate redundancies and/or inefficiencies - Eliminating waste.
- We then move onto figuring out how best to accomplish the goal by effectively and efficiently utilizing the available resources. The resources could be time, money, people, software, or hardware – Optimizing resources.
- No matter how efficient we were in making and delivering the product, it is of no relevance if it’s not enhancing a user’s experience. The ultimate measure of a product’s success is always determined by the positive impact it makes to one’s experience – Enhance user experience.
What are your thoughts and your strategies for being efficient and effective at work or at home?
Stay safe, Stay healthy and Stay blessed. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend.
