The Friday Thing #871
Black Friday. Cold Friday.
The Friday Thing 870 arrives on Black Friday. Which always reminds me of the Banksy image titled "Shop 'til you drop". I will admit that I cast a glance at the sales but have resisted.
If I do buy something, it may be some new books because as Carl Sagan reminds us in this lovely, short video, they're "nourishment for the soul". And that for the price of a modest meal, you can get the history of Rome. I love his turn of phrase that they may produce flowers in the most unpromising soil.
It's 186 seconds of your time today.
That's all for this week. For those in the US, enjoy the long weekend.
Music for this week is Goodnight Song by Tears for Fears.
cheers and happy Friday.

13 小时前The Banksy image is a powerful reminder of our consumer habits, especially on Black Friday. While I often resist the urge to buy unnecessary items, books are always a worthy investment. Carl Sagan's words about books being nourishment for the soul resonate deeply with me. They connect us to the minds of others across time, offering wisdom, knowledge, and inspiration. Thanks for the video link! it beautifully highlights how books transcend time, preserve knowledge, and connect diverse thinkers.
