The Friday Thing #837
Thanks for the fast corrections last week – Grammy’s not Emmy’s. Duh!
The Friday Thing #837 returns to my fascination with AI and really cannot be anything other than Sora from OpenAI this week. I had a sense earlier in the week that this was coming, and a few people had mentioned to me that it was the most impressive technical demonstration they had seen in a long time – perhaps even ever. The tech industry can be known for hyperbole at times, so I was suitably skeptical. And then on Thursday morning, I received a link to the Sora announcement ?with the video below being the first one on the page.
Wow.
?This 60 video?is entirely AI generated using this prompt:
“A stylish woman walks down a Tokyo street filled with warm glowing neon and animated city signage. She wears a black leather jacket, a long red dress, and black boots, and carries a black purse. She wears sunglasses and red lipstick. She walks confidently and casually. The street is damp and reflective, creating a mirror effect of the colorful lights. Many pedestrians walk about.”

Wow.?
I got the chance to discuss this with many people in the creative field in Los Angeles yesterday - a discussion that went on long into the evening. I’m still digesting all of that and maybe at a later date?will try to summarize it. I am also busy digesting the technical details ?behind Sora which is an interesting read if you are inclined to go a bit deeper. For now, I simply wanted to share this remarkable technology as even though a lot of my friends are talking about it, I want to ensure all?my friends here have seen it as my advice to anyone who asks me about AI right now is “dig in, learn, experiment and share”. So go ahead, click the link, and check it out.?
?
That’s all for this week. Music?is Night Rider by Blank & Jones.
?
Happy Friday.
?Cheers,?

9 个月Heh, people can't tell the words in the back are gibberish. Still, this is pretty cool.

9 个月Excellent video, but not perfect. Check out her walk at :15 and :30. She does a weird little 'SKIP' step. Minor imperfections and we will see how long it takes OpenAI to fix. Thanks for posting Steve Clayton
