The Friday Thing #774
Moments after I sent last week’s edition, Banksy confirmed it was his work in Ukraine and he added some great new pieces. Maybe he’s on this distribution list?
?
The Friday Thing #774 is a short edition and comes by way of a submission from a reader – thankyou, Bruce.
Sahil Bloom, author of the Curiosity Chronicle, recently came across a set of data on who we spend our time with over the course of our lives. He placed the data in to six graphs that he shared on Twitter with some takeaways from each graph. This is the first graph along with the takeaways:?
?
Time Spent with Parents & Siblings
Peaks in childhood and declines after age 20.
?Key Takeaways:
?Prioritize and cherish every moment.
It’s all pretty obvious of course when you think about our family time – but it’s also a good and timely reminder. I also enjoyed the following graph too as it served as a great reminder of the need to find joy at work and the importance of who you work with.?
?
I think most of all, I enjoyed this final chart and the takeaways that Sahil offered.?
?
In summary:
?(1) Family time is limited—cherish it.
?(2) Friend time is limited—prioritize real ones.
?(3) Partner time is significant—never settle.
?(4) Children time is precious—be present.
?(5) Coworker time is significant—find energy.
?(6) Alone time is highest—love yourself.
?
Very wise words. Enjoy your time this weekend and happy Friday

2 年Very insightful! Creating a psychologically safe environment at work is very important as we spend so much time with our coworkers. Ways to enjoy time alone is another focus area. Thanks for sharing!

2 年Steve, I have been thinking about your post all weekend. Even as an introvert I realize that I am part of community, as I look at the chart I see the need for me to seek out older friends and spend time with them. Raise my children well, so they will want me around when I am old. Invest heavily in my relationship with my partner, we are in it together. The chart shows averages, I have to beat the averages, to invest well in relationships is the best way to love myself. Thanks for making me think!!
