Friday Round Up

Friday Round Up

Well I've had a fun week off being creative, upcycling lampshades, making curtains, and painting / wallpapering my office to make it a bright happy room that captures all my travel memorabilia. Some of you will have spotted it on video calls with me, but for those who want to see my cheerful office, I've added a photo at the end of my update. It's certainly better than the 1980s magnolia anaglypta wallpaper and brass / glass ceiling pendant that was there before!. As a result of my fun week off, I have not done much searching, but here is what I have spotted:

  • As you will have seen, last week the Bill was introduced to transfer functions from IfATE to Skills England. I did a post summarising the key points that I spotted. Yesterday the House of Lord Library published a briefing - it is worth reading
  • Some useful articles and updates following the FE and Skills Collective
  • Some updates to the Generative AI in education: user research and technical report
  • New Science Advisory Council
  • World Skills celebration at the Houses of Parliament
  • the latest IfATE apprenticeship surveys
  • ESFA Update
  • for those wanting to keep up to date on apprenticeships, I did a post earlier this week with the key webpages I access regularly
  • Learning and Work Institute briefing on how to build a joined up skills system
  • there have been some thought provoking articles on FE News and FE Week this week around Skills England
