Savvi Insights: Events & Highlights of the Week

This week, Therese attended the launch of the #CSRD toolkit in Dublin, hosted by Ibec and Davy Horizons, which focused on the collective responsibility required for Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) compliance.

The event highlighted a vital takeaway: don’t let perfection be the enemy of good.

High standards are set for transparency in sustainability reporting, but striving for flawless data can hold us back. As Dr Dorothy Maxwell from Davy Horizons and Sinéad Hickey from John Sisk & Son Ltd emphasised, progress is the goal, not perfection.

With input from industry leaders, including Derek Scully from Energia and David Feeney from Coillte, discussions centred on the shared role every department plays in sustainability. From senior management to frontline teams, each contributes to this directive, helping organisations build a practical, collaborative approach to ESG reporting. As Feeney aptly put it, CSRD is “like a mortgage application—you have the data, but pulling it all together is challenging.”

By prioritising meaningful action and evolving our processes over time, we can make steady strides towards compliance, demonstrating our commitment to sustainability and driving impactful change along the way.
