Friday Note - Creating Balance

I teach Yoga classes in my small community. It is my way to give back, my Karma time. One of the primary components of Yoga is balance, and I just finished teaching a 4-week session dedicated to that guiding principle. Balance in Yoga is not just standing on one foot like a stork, (although that skill is integral to our ability to function independently as human beings). The concept of balance flows through all planes of our existence. We must find balance in the physical - from side to side and front to back within our bodies, in addition to the skill of balancing on one foot, balance within our emotional and mental states, and balance within our minds.
Continuing on from last week - do you have a balanced life? Stand in front of the figurative mirror, look at yourself and your life honestly, and answer the questions below:
Are you able to practice self-care in addition to caring for those around you?
Do you eat healthy food, work out and carve out time to do the things you enjoy?
Do those you love get enough of you, and do you have the time you want to spend with them?
Does what you do for a living fulfill you, or drain you? How many hours do you devote to it?
Do you have time left for the things you love to do?
What else is missing from your life?
Now - apply these answers to the Pareto Principal. (If you need a reminder, go to my Friday Note - Time Management.) If 20% of your effort generates 80% of your results, how can you rearrange your efforts to generate more happiness and satisfaction in your day to day existence?
Life is short - eat the cake, take the trip, buy the shoes, find the thing that brings you joy, and just do it!
Next week - now that you have identified these goals, how do you get there? Stay tuned..............
