Friday night at NGV with AJBCV

On Friday evening we had the pleasure of sponsoring the AJBCV,?? Australia-Japan Businesswomen’s third network event at NGV.? We enjoyed an exclusive private viewing of?Reflection Model (Itsukushima)?by contemporary Japanese artist: Takahiro Iwasaki, with an informative presentation by Senior Curator of Asian Art, Wayne Crothers.? The “Reflection Model”?series is based on the sixth-century Shinto shrine of Itsukushima, on the tidal flats of Japan’s Inland Sea. Interestingly the model has fifteen interlocking parts that when suspended to create an illusion of weightlessness. Focusing on seven of Japan’s most sacred buildings that all have an intimate visual relationship with the reflections they cast in the water that surrounds them. The deep blue walled room that the model is suspendered in certainly gave depth and meaning to the floating model. What more can we ask when our passion for Japan, The Arts and Construction are combined in one space.

We then continued our journey through the Winter Masterpiece Exhibition:?Pierre Bonnard designed by India Mohdavi, where our intimate group enjoyed exploring the diversity and creativity of Pierre Bonnard, a lovely end to a busy week. ?
