Friday was Mario Day - MAR10!
Blue Ridge Community College - Workforce and Continuing Education
Careers Start Here!
You might be thinking to yourself, "Jim, why are you posting about celebrating a video game character." Well, this isn't 100% about Mario Day but more about how video games build skills that are helpful in starting a career in heavy equipment operation.??
I ran across a blog post by?Build Your Future?about gaming and the skills needed to be a gamer. "Quick reflexes. A steady hand. Superb hand-eye coordination. A love for overcoming challenges." This opening line of the blog made me think. They are onto something, those are the exact characteristics needed for a heavy equipment operator.?Heavy equipment operators should have good hand-eye (and foot) coordination, be proficient in the safe operation of various equipment, possess good reaction time and stamina.?
Equipment operators continue to fill a needed and desired role in the workforce. Nearly every construction project from bridges, airports, homes and everything in between, relies on the skilled labor of heavy equipment operators to get the project up and running.??
Are you a gamer looking to use your skills in a new way and make some money? Do you know a gamer that could use knowledge and skills in construction to start a career??Then check out our?website?and get registered for the next HEO class starting March 20th. Tuition assistance is available and for some Virginia residents the class could be free.?
If you have questions please feel free to contact me.?
So, to quote Mario.....
"Let's-a go!"
