Learning #3 | Finding my own smile, managing our WLB!
It's about what energizes you & keeps you going even when the days are tough.
Finding our own WLB (Work Life Balance) is essentially to understand how we can rejuvenate ourselves before or when work fatigue kicks in. It could be that manicure session after a week of hard work that restores your being, or it could be leaving home at 5.30pm so that you can have the family dinner together, or it could be that fitness workout at the start of everyday, or that vacation you always wanted at Maldives. And it may not be only 1 thing, it might be a few of these routines that you can draw on whenever you need them.
One of my top WLB activity is to have breakfast with my wife every morning before I go to work, without my 4 children! It allows me to find my own smile as it fulfills a major purpose of my existence, which is to love the wife I married.
What is your WLB activity? How is your team coping with WLB? Perhaps there is merit to coach them to discover what gives them energy outside of work. And if they have identified it, perhaps as their manager you should empower them to put it into action. Energy begets energy, very soon you will find the team more ready to take on new challenges!
