And, have you ever wanted to delete your social media app? Our recommended watch shows you the reality of that.

NEWS?

??LinkedIn reports higher revenue and record numbers of engagement

One interesting stat from LinkedIn’s latest update is that video uploads are escalating by 34%. But the most interesting is that the platform is reporting increased sessions by 13% and record levels of engagement - this is inline with more Gen Z entering the workplace and outnumbering boomers.

??Meta needs 10x more computing power to train Llama 4

Meta is currently in the process of developing one of the biggest foundational open-source large language models, but advised in their second quarter earnings that they will need 10x more computing power to train the update which will be called Llama 4, with Zuckerberg stating that he would rather build capacity before needing it.

??Southport attack misinformation fuels far-right discourse on social media

The whole of the UK was completely shocked by the attack in Southport this week. Unfortunately overshadowing the victim’s deaths has been a huge amount of misinformation causing riots and attacks. News highlights how social media has played a major role in this.

??Friend advert kicks up a storm on social media - but is it real?

An advert for a new device called ‘Friend’ has taken the internet by storm, mainly due to the fact that many believe it is a stealth advert for a new Black Mirror episode, however it seems the device is real, which raises real philosophical questions over our relationship with technology and desire for connection.

??Publicis Groupe Acquires Influencer-Marketing Giant Influential

An interesting acquisition by Publicis Groupe as they acquire the influencer marketing giant, which boasts a network of more than 3.5 million creators - 90% of global influencers that have over 1 million followers. This shows that despite the many foibles surrounding influencers and issues around partnerships and authenticity its still very much the go to for a lot of consumer brands.

WORTH A WATCH ??

This week’s ‘worth a watch’ is Disconnected, a short documentary produced and created by Gen Z student Safina, who deleted her social media apps and looked into the pros and cons of doing so, especially with her generation being so reliant on being online.

The documentary won ‘best documentary’ at the Into Film Awards, you can watch it here.
