Lot of Freshers, graduated just out college 2020 , even 2019 finding it extremely difficult in finding jobs. There is a misconception among few companies that new / freshers don't comply all the required skills. One such incident is , I was hiring recruiters for US, Europe and India. I was looking at is 1 to 2 years of experience, Who can be in my team and I can guide them well to close their positions. :)
After interviewing 70 candidates, I thought of hiring a zero experience, just out of college, one such candidate about to graduate , does not have good Communication skills ( her mother tongue was Tamil)she had lots of MTI - Mother tongue influence on her accent. , Her plus point was her ambition, determination, she said, she can do well if she was given just 1 chance to prove her worth. I was more or less convinced and appointed her, after initial hand holding, mentoring for 2 weeks, she started doing well, not taking any breaks, even lunch she was having at her desk. I was impressed, gave her 2 requirements to work , to my surprise she came up with 10 matching profiles, She promised me she will improve for better, with in 2 months there was a sea change in her approach, sourcing, and even her communication.
The best part is she was the highest in sourcing profiles and even scheduling Interviews with Candidates/ closed 4 candidates in that month. I was amazed and I called for a Team review and applauded her and awarded her as "Star of the Month", and ever since she has been doing very well. Her joy new no bounds. :)
What is required is having faith , giving a chance to the needy, who are determined/focused. And a little bit of guidance, appreciation and most importantly having a heart matters....Am sure anyone will shine and be an asset to the organization. :)
Hire for Attitude and Train for Skills...Agree...?
