SPECIAL FEATURES

The UX Research Methods Selection Tool ??

“It’s the process of UX research that matters, not the beauty of the final artifact.” – David Travis, Managing Director of Userfocus in Think Like a UX Researcher

As the quote above implies, that also makes how you get started all the more important. For people who do research, a critical yet challenging part of the process is selecting the right method.

That's why we just rolled out a new UX Research Methods Selection Tool. Answer a few questions and see more than 30 possible outcomes based on factors like:

  • Stage of development
  • Your specific research questions & goals
  • Level of current knowledge about the problem
  • Resources (e.g., time/money)

Measuring Method Comfort Levels ??

Since we're on the topic of research methods, here's a chart from our recent State of User Research report on just that. We asked how respondents would rate their comfort levels and confidence when it comes to the most common research methods.

Interviews and usability testing led the way in comfort levels, while the data suggested that accessibility testing and eye tracking inspired less confidence.

Check out our new-and-improved UX Field Guide for a deeper dive into research methods and more.
