Fresh | Local | Craft - My global business of the year is...

I connect people through content and conversation on stages around the world to their companies, communities or future business space as a conference speaker and facilitator
One of the joys of travelling and speaking at events around the world - is that occasionally I get a day off in an exotic or unusual destination. It gives me an opportunity to look for new things, ideas or concepts in business - and it's a rare treat which I love enormously. Scottsdale, Arizona, came up trumps for me recently - as I discovered a small business which I truly believe deserves a global accolade... and one which is quite simply, my business of the year. It's the Goldwater Brewing Company, a family run business specialising, to my mind, in appropriate and modern business thinking. It ticks all the boxes for a really successful operation too... with great products, competitive prices and superb service. all wrapped in a style and a sass at ground level which is simply unbeatable.
It deserves to become a social cult brand (and it well might). Here's the what, and why...
Having discovered the place by chance in Old Town Scottsdale, and in need of a libation after a shopping spree (my wife - which is unusual - had traveled with me) - we entered the premises not knowing what to expect; save for the fact that I'm a keen craft beer kind of guy anyway. We were simply blown away by our reception, the attitude and the friendliness which ran through the entire operation. The beer was outstanding and the atmosphere was impeccable. It simply ticks all the boxes of a modern, successful business from the ground floor up by doing what it says on the tin: Fresh. Local. Craft. Beer. It's got the modern EPA I believe a bricks and mortar establishment should have - an Experience, the right Priced Product and the Availability (of choice and style).
Speaking of tin... as we left after refreshing ourselves, and thanking our server, I was asked why I wasn't taking some home with me? Frankly, I didn't know I could until it was pointed out that they actually can their own beer on the premises... which I think is simply genius! So I ordered some, Growler-size, to take home - and watched the canning process happen in front of me. And I'm bloody glad I did too, as my family back home in South Africa (yes, it traveled!) loved it too - and it was great to share their story over their cold craft ale!
As a business; this is superb... hence my personal moniker of Business of the Year - it matches everything a modern business, which is in touch with its customers, should. Product, flavour, service, style, sass and an all round attitude wrapping it all together in a way that says 'let's have some fun'. Boy, it delivers. If you ever find yourself anywhere near the Scottsdale area - check them out - as well as their website at https://www.goldwaterbrewing.com. I can't wait for another visit!

6 年Mike, nice to hear you are also a fan of Craft Beer. Not easy to get the mix right on a venture like this. If ever you have the inclination and would like to learn how to brew your own craft beer, drop me a line and we can work something out for you. Its easier than most people think and not very expensive to get started. Brewing is also a good teacher of life lessons. ? www.homebrewsa.com? https://www.dhirubhai.net/company/grain-to-glass-home-brew-team-build/
