Eating healthy is a challenge for anyone, especially if money and fresh-healthy food are hard to come by. The idea behind ‘Fresh Foods Here’ (FFH) is to encourage small 'corner stores' to offer fresh, healthy foods like - milk, bread, eggs, produce, fruit and more. United Way & Brexton created an endcap and a refrigerated section to feature these items. These 'corner stores' were offered some paid-improvements to their locations where Brexton oversaw all improvements and FFH installations.

9 年Thanks Lee Ann. This program has led to many store owners tearing-up – recognizing that this gift has improved their customer’s lives and their livelihoods. To be able to see a young mother with 2 small children in hand walk out of one of the stores with fresh fruit in the kids hands rather than soda, chips or a candy bar, knowing that just a short time ago, this was not possible without the Brexton & UW project.

9 年I love this artical. I am a kidney patient as well as a diabetic and it is so important for me to eat healthy. I follow a strict diet of fresh (no canned) vegetables and fruit.
