A Fresh Country With Vintage Flair
As far as restaurants these days, it seems like the new way of doing business is actually going back to the old ways of life. History revived, with down home recipes mixed with and created by new techniques. Our search for the "even better" with the care of the past in choosing menu items with the freshest of foods, while creating original tastes. The appreciation of our heritage and where we came from, and using a lot more REAL foods as opposed to the industrial age of the mass produced, along with added preservatives to keep a long shelf life, really seem to not matter as much to both the new creators or growing numbers of consumers out there these days. The mistaken days of old, with their tv dinners, you just pop into the oven, or microwave for 5 minutes, may well be on their way out. With the finest of foods on the menus, coming straight from the farm, many chefs are weighing the pros and cons of bringing to the table items they offer that are of a simpler (it may seem) and healthier way of life. Chefs usually have busy schedules, so it does consume much of their time, but it seems worth it to others that are willing to come taste what they have (especially if they take special care in collecting produce from our local farms). Out of appreciation to the way it once was in this country, I introduce the restaurant "Heritage" located in the town of Forst Park, IL. This is a place where the staff take the time to travel to the many places throughout the state (markets and local farms) to choose (by hand) the produce for creating their special meals, that they offer to their visitors coming into their restaurant.
As we humbly approach the new year, with both an appreciation for the past, and a look to our future, we approach this new year with fresh ideas from and for the next generation. Please come out and join Chicago Gourmets in starting the year out right, in the upcoming year of 2018. We are all invited (of every generation) to come together in unity for this special event that honors our country (taking place at Heritage), with this restaurant paying close attention to our roots. This special event's theme that is centered on our country's foundation "A Sunday Night Supper" upcoming in the New Year of 2018 will truly be a night to remember. They are opening the restaurant that day just for the group, and all of us that attend are invited to pay tribute to this down home, yet fine dining experience and gathering. As we honor the farmers and fresh food we have in this country, let's count our blessings by asking god to continue to watch over us all throughout the world and in this beautiful land of ours, in hopes that our families stay safe and healthy in the future. In anticipation of these special tastings by partners/ chefs Sieger Bayer and Michael Siewak that they will be preparing the finest of down home Americana cuisine, starting out with a wine and hors d 'oeuvres reception, followed by the finest of specialty cuisine for all of us to gather around and enjoy. This invitation to all, and any who appreciate the mix of young & old, brand spanking new & antiques, with foods that are fresh, surrounded by vintage flair, will be treasured as we partake. Please join us, by visiting Chicago Gourmets website in anticipation to the upcoming year's event at
