Fresh approaches to long-standing challenges – using gamification, nudges and microcontent to help improve patient outcomes

Personalized digital solutions are an innovative way aimed at overcoming the long-standing challenges associated with patient adherence to a treatment regimen. Nowadays, interactive solutions such as gamification, rewards, nudges and focused microcontent that are better integrated into patient routines are used to help make interactions more beneficial for patients. This is one of the core building blocks of personalized care that I discuss in more detail in a recent whitepaper*.

These approaches can also be employed for educating patients and increasing patients’ interaction with their condition and treatment, which in turn has the potential for improved patient adherence and ultimately, better patient outcomes.

At Takeda, we take a holistic and patient-centric approach to developing care solutions. That’s why we are looking at ways to use intelligent software built around nudges, gamification and rewards in a way that takes patients’ individual behavior into account. You can read more on this topic in a recent whitepaper* on how technology can help facilitate personalized care for rare disease patients.
