CLAFOUTIS. The classic French dessert that is way easier to prepare than it is to pronounce. The French are opportunistic. In a good way. In the kitchen, they make the best of seasonal fruits and vegetables, ensuring peak flavor and nutrition. And so it is with this recipe. Almost any seasonal fruit can be used to prepare this easy dessert, which bakes while you enjoy your dinner. Essentially, it is a lightly sweetened batter that is baked with perfectly ripened fresh fruit and dusted with powdered sugar as soon as it's out of the oven.
Traditionally, stone fruit is used, and for me it will always be cherries, but they can be time-consuming and challenging to pit, so do as the French of the Limousin region do--leave the pits in!
