French Art at Wine Auctions in China
Four original artworks of wine posters were sold last week at the opening ceremony dinner of Interwine China last week. A guest of Rita Jia, the organizer of what has now become the first international wine exhibition in China (1,260 exhibitors from 52 countries), I felt honoured to present my work to 1,000 dinner attendees at the luxurious Intercontinental Hotel. Four sketches, painted for the Musée du Vin de Bordeaux, DrinkWineChina Magazine, Oak Tradition (a California barrel importer) and for the Interwine China official poster were auctioned for a total of 42,000 yuans. Van Gogh Sunflowers or Elvis Presley's hair comb once did much better but this auction sale of four pastels will benefit disabled children.
