Freeze Out Winter Fires

Freeze Out Winter Fires

Cozying up in front of a fire with a cup of cocoa while taking a break from all the decorating, cooking, and entertaining sounds idyllic this time of year. Winter is upon us and, whether through festive holiday lighting, fireplaces, electrical heating units, or cooking for family gatherings, the winter months frequently provide opportunities for exposure to fire hazards. Here are some tips to freeze out winter fires this holiday season:

  • Avoid overloaded electrical circuits
  • Use only CSA-approved lights and holiday décor
  • Keep a close eye on appliances that emit heat
  • Inspect electrical devices for frayed or damaged cords.
  • Never leaves lit candles unattended
  • Ensure all hallways and pathways around your home are clutter-free and snow/ice outdoors is maintained.

Remember burnt food is not good, more so a burnt house!
