Freestyle Testing - Masters
During testing a freestyle stroke correction was made to the catch of the stroke. It didn't work as planned, so we will review the technique with this masters swimmer. We will also focus on ankle flexion. Here is a link to the short video.

We are trying to follow closely the freestyle stroke and method as drawn by Cecil Colwin
The hand enters in front of the shoulder, when not breathing the head stays motionless with eyes looking forward 5 feet in front of the swimmer. The rest is just swimming.
Have a great swimming day.

7 年Why try to follow old technology? We have learned quite a bit about swimming faster, and with the larger muscles, in the past 15-20 years.
very retired at no where - now do everything for fun
7 年Hi Dan......well this season I have been working on muscle power and I find that the higher the elbow throughout the stroke the more the large trapize muscle is used - your diagram seems to me just about showing the old S pull which hardly used the trapize at all and was just limited to the pec muscle. I would actually like your thoughts on this. Since using the higher elbow we have had quite considerable lowering in times (they would be even better if they attended our full training sessions - but its the individual and as a coach I can only make the necessary remarks).
